Governor Rick Scott Appoints Boca Raton-Based Acupuncturist Dr. Rodney Dunetz to Florida State Board of Acupuncture
BOCA RATON, FLA – On Monday, November 14, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Dr. Rodney Dunetz, DAOM, a Boca Raton-based acupuncturist and Doctor of Oriental Medicine, to the Florida State Board of Acupuncture. Dr. Dunetz succeeds Mary Teisinger and is appointed for a term beginning November 14, 2016, and ending October 31, 2020.
Dr. Dunetz holds a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He is the founder and director of the Dunetz Wellness Center, a private practice clinic located in Boca Raton. He is among a handful of practitioners on the East Coast of the United States to hold a Doctoral level degree, having completed an additional two years of clinical training beyond the Masters level degree. As a practitioner of functional medicine, Dr. Dunetz combines advanced Western diagnostic testing with a traditional, Eastern treatment approach to achieve dramatic health improvement in his patients.
Dr. Dunetz served as a director on the board of the Florida State Oriental Medical Association (FSOMA) from 2008 – 2016, spending part of that time as the FSOMA treasurer. He is currently a Palm Beach County Medical Reserve Corps Volunteer. In 2014, Dr. Dunetz became the first acupuncturist to be named a “Hero in Medicine” finalist by the Palm Beach County Medical Society. The honor came in recognition of his work with Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, where, for seven years, he provided free group acupuncture treatments for the staff and volunteers.
The appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
