Does Acupuncture Help Treat Infertility?

on

People are always asking, “Does Acupuncture Help Treat Infertility?” The short answer is, Yes it Can!

Infertility is a very common problem experienced by of couples all over the world. It’s estimated that approximately 1 in 8 couples have difficulty conceiving. That’s a pretty substantial amount that attests to the problem of infertility.

While many couples automatically resort to prescription drugs to treat their infertility, a more effective solution seems to lie in the form of acupuncture. If this is your first time hearing about acupuncture, let me explain what it is and how it works. Acupuncture is a centuries-old tradition that involves the placement of thin needles in specific areas of the body, known as acupuncture points.

One of the belief behind acupuncture is that our bodies have a life force flowing through it at all times. Also known as Qi, when this energy or life force moves freely we remain in good health. But when it grows stagnant, we become susceptible to disease and illness. Acupuncture aims to correct blockages of Qi by freeing up stagnation in one of twelve meridians.

All of this sounds nice, but is there any real evidence suggesting that acupuncture can in fact be used to treat infertility? Yes! According to the APA, acupuncture can be used to treat fertility disorders, including spasmed tubes — one of the most common causes of female infertility. Natural herbal and nutritional therapies are often include in the treatment protocol for a gentle safe fertility enhancement.

Acupuncture can be used to treat any type of fertility disorder including spasmed tubes. Spasmed tubes are often de-spasmed with acupuncture, though blocked tubes will not respond to acupuncture,” wrote the American Pregnancy Association (APA).

A study conducted by researchers also found acupuncture to be effective in assisting patients who were undergoing reproduction therapy. For the study, researchers split 80 patients who were trying to conceive into two groups: the first group received acupuncture, whereas the second group did not. The pregnancy rate for patients in the group that received acupuncture was 42.5%, while the pregnancy rate for the control group was just 26.3%.
